What are Chakras? They are energy centers within our being that have an important purpose. These energy centers can actually have such a profound influence on our lives that it’s crucial for us to be aware of them, to understand how and why they affect us, and to learn how we can balance our chakras and keep them vibrant and healthy.
There are 7 main chakras that run from the base of our spine up through the center of our being to the crown of our head, and they are thought to vitalize the physical body, as well as associate with our mental and emotional realms, which are mainly energetic realms.
From Top to Bottom:
Crown Chakra (Purple) – is thought to be the portal for our connection to Spirit
Brow Chakra (Indigo) – also called our “Third Eye” and is thought to be connected to our intuition
Throat Chakra (Blue) – is thought to be our center for verbal expression and communication
Heart Chakra (Green) – is associated with our “Love” and caring for ourselves, for others
Solar Plexus Chakra (Yellow) – is thought to be our personal power center (strength and courage – “guts”)
Sacral Chakra (Orange) – is associated with our creativity and our sexuality
Root Chakra (Red) – also called “Base” and is associated with our connection to earth, being grounded to life
The word Chakra means “wheel” in Sanskrit, and it is thought that these wheels of energy move in a clockwise manner, and affect our psychological, emotional and spiritual well-being. When our Chakras are energized and functioning properly, our overall health and wellness is good. Often when we are feeling ill or out of sorts, our Chakras are usually involved and one or more may be out of balance.
